Why Evolv

Built around your data, not a template

Designed around your energy data

Every Evolv system starts with your actual consumption not a template. You get a system sized for your home and your habits, not the nearest off-the-shelf tier.

Scottish-based, Scotland-wide

Evolv is based in Glasgow and installs across the whole country. You get an installer who understands Scottish roofs, Scottish weather and the SPEN/SSEN grid you’re actually connected to.

Zero-pressure sales

You get the numbers, not a script. There’s no countdown timer on your quote and no pressure to sign on the day.

Manufacturer-approved installer

Evolv is an approved installer for both EcoFlow and Sigenergy two of the most advanced battery systems available in the UK. You’re not getting a bargain-bin battery bolted onto a panel array.

How Solar Actually Works

The single biggest myth stopping Scottish homeowners from getting a quote is “Scotland’s too cloudy for solar.” Here’s what the numbers actually show.

01

You don't need direct sunlight — you need daylight

Scotland’s yields are lower than the south of England, but they’re far from marginal. Panels in Glasgow and Edinburgh generate meaningful power on grey, overcast days, because they respond to daylight hitting the cell, not to clear blue sky.

02

Self-consumption is what actually saves you money

Generating electricity only saves you money when you use it. A system that exports cheaply while you pay full price in the evening isn’t working as hard for you as it could.

03

This is where a battery changes the maths

A battery stores the surplus your panels generate during the day. You draw on it in the evening when you’d otherwise buy electricity back at 26p+ a unit. This is what usually pushes a system from decent savings to bill eliminated.

04

You still earn on what you don’t use

Any surplus your battery doesn’t need gets exported through the Smart Export Guarantee, and you’re paid per unit. One Evolv customer earns over £220 a year this way, on top of eliminating their bill.

05

EV charging and heat pumps run on the same system

Once you’re generating and storing your own power, an EV charger or heat pump becomes a way to shift more of your spending onto electricity you already own instead of electricity you’re buying.

How it works

Five steps from quote to certified

1

Data-Led Design & Survey

Evolv models your system against your actual energy usage and your property, not a standard template.

Grid connection applications, required documentation, and any planning requirements are handled for you.

3

Installation

Your system is installed by our experienced engineers, usually within a day for most domestic properties.

4

You Save

Your system goes live and your bill starts dropping from the first full month.

5

Certification & Handover

Once your system is commissioned, we’ll show you how to monitor its performance and get the most from your investment.

See What You Could Save

Plug in your own numbers

Every home and business is different, so instead of showing you someone else’s package, plug in your own numbers.

1. Cut your bills — no solar panels required

Every night, electricity drops to a fraction of the daytime price. A battery banks it while you sleep. See what that’s worth to your home or business  in 30 seconds.

2. What's your roof actually worth?

Dial in solar, battery and EV charging for your property and watch the annual saving stack up. Under a minute, no jargon.

3. Solar. Battery. EV. Heat pump. One number.

Stack the full system and see what running your whole home — or business — on smart energy could save every year.

Why the Numbers Work Now

The maths gets better with every price cap rise, not worse

From 1 July 2026, Ofgem’s energy price cap rises to £1,862 a year for a typical dual-fuel household on Direct Debit up 13% in a single quarter, with the average electricity unit rate now sitting at 26.11p/kWh. That’s the fourth cap rise in two years, and it isn’t the last one coming.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is solar worth it in Scotland?

Yes. Scottish solar systems generate meaningful electricity even on overcast days, because panels respond to daylight rather than direct sun. Combined with a battery to store surplus generation, most Evolv customers cut their bill by save up to 80% on your electricity bills and some eliminate it entirely.

It affects your total yield compared to the south of England, but not as much as most people assume. Cloud cover reduces output, it doesn’t stop it and a correctly sized system, designed around your real usage, still delivers strong year-round savings.

It depends on your system size, usage and current electricity spend, but Evolv customers typically see payback in 7.3 years, followed by 17+ years of effectively free energy.

Both are premium battery systems and Evolv is an approved installer for each. The right choice depends on your property, your budget and how you use energy your assessment will include a recommendation specific to your home.

Most domestic roof-mounted solar installations fall under permitted development in Scotland and don’t need planning permission, though listed buildings and conservation areas can have different rules. Your survey will confirm what applies to your property.

Any electricity your system generates and your battery doesn’t store gets exported to the grid, and your supplier pays you per unit through the Smart Export Guarantee. It’s income, not a subsidy  and it stacks on top of your bill savings.

Yes. Without a battery, surplus daytime generation gets exported for a few pence a unit, and you buy expensive grid electricity again in the evening. A battery stores that surplus and lets you use it after dark instead  which is usually the single biggest factor in whether a bill gets reduced or eliminated.

Most domestic installations are completed within a day. Paperwork, grid connection applications and MCS certification are handled by Evolv throughout.
